Why Are Indians Detained At England Airports

So many Indians have been reported to have been detained at the airports of England. Why is it that the Indians are so thoroughly checked by the customs before allowing them to roam in England. The reason has got something to do with the history of India. Yes, the past 400 years or so during which the British ruled India still has an effect on the psyche of the English which makes them afraid of the traditional looking Indians who are entering their country.

The more traditional an Indian is, the more reasons the English get to be careful of him. Women wearing saris also frighten the custom authorities of England. The reason is that the English of the past have done so much harm to the Indians that the English are always afraid of a possible revolt. When it comes to "love for motherland", Indians have a very strong history to glorify their freedom fighters.

Racialism also has been a major reason why these conditions are still lingering around. The Indian film directors are also a bit aggressive toward the westerners in order to invoke a feeling of patriotism which makes the Indian mind feel like revolting against the ill done to their forefathers.

The thing to remember is that the past is past. Those who did the Jalianwala Baug massacre do not exist today. Indians are more sensible and compromising which is proved from the fact that no such instances of an Englishman being detained at an Indian airport have been reported so far. There is no Simon and nor is there any Bhagat Singh alive today. Hence there is literally no reason why the English should be so frightened of the Indians.

It may take a century or more to wash this bitterness in our hearts. The dream of Rabindranath Tagore to see people across the whole globe gathering at the shores of a holy ocean forgetting their castes, races and sects and praising the Divine Mother to bless them with a promising future where all people will live with peace in their minds and love in their hearts has to come true anytime soon. It is shameful to live in a world where we, being the creation of the same creator, shall fight among ourselves. Let us hope that we can make our creator proud of us by living together and spreading the message of peace and love across the whole globe.
