What Is High Quality Original Content All About?

What does Google think about high quality, original content articles? Why so many healthy looking blogs fail in getting good traffic despite having hundreds of self-written original articles? If you were Google what would you do to make your search results more accurate? With so many webmasters squeezing quick and fast articles out of the present day technology and throwing them online every hour or so, it becomes highly impossible for any search engine to figure out which article is the best. With so many articles published and indexed throughout the decade, manual attempt to make things better would be the worst nightmare we all would try to avoid. Hence the demand for high quality content is increasing day by day and the search engines are trying to make their search results better and better.

So what is this high quality original content about?

If you say it is all about rewriting something you have read and throwing it online, then there are many webmasters out there who are most likely doing the same thing. Google just wants to read something which has never been published before. If you have 200 different articles all describing the same gadget will you bother to see what they all are speaking about? That is why Google gives importance to the links that are pointing towards your article. I would probably put up "first content" first. But first content is not necessarily the best content and hence Google allows the web savvy people to take care of the quality determination and promotion part of its search results.

Is Google going to make your article famous just because it has original content?

High quality and original content are not the same thing. It is Google which decides whether an article has original content or not. The quality of your article is to be decided by your visitors. How can a search engine decide the quality of an article? Search engines never understand human emotions. Google knows only mathematics. At the most it may see the number of words, the title, the targeted keywords and a bunch of other factors to judge your article's genuineness and quality. As a matter of fact, it is actually the number of links pointing to your article which make Google think that there is something in your article which is worth looking into.

High quality content can go viral even without Google!

Google is equipped with something which modern Science terms as artificial intelligence. Meaning it understands quality of your content on the basis of a few quality determining factors that its creator has included in its algorithm. Algorithms do not understand emotions! Hence, Google depends on people browsing the Internet for determining whether the content of your site is quality content or not. The time people spend on your site also tells Google how catchy and interesting your articles are. A good article can go viral without the help of Google through social networking platform where people will be sharing the link of your blog post and posting it all over the web. Once the links build up, the article starts pushing its way through to the top of Google's search results. Hence high quality content can go viral through social networking sites alone. But once the links build up properly then Google can make you a king in a very short time.

There are sites which are dedicated to giving links to some very unique and "good quality content" equipped articles.

There are many webmasters who create sites which give links to some very important articles related to their niche. But why would any webmaster do this? There are times when webmasters have no time to write and yet they want free content which can be published on their site (which is never available for free). Dedicated webmasters never disappoint their visitors by not updating their site. An article which is so meaningful, rich in content and unique can never be missed out by these webmasters. New webmasters always look forward to sharing an important piece of information with their visitors. Even if they rewrite the same article Google will not let them climb the original content ladder as long as the keywords are the same. Hence there is no other option left but to give a short description of the article and give a link to the original article. This also gives us some free marketing along with a free link! So, our focus should be mainly on writing good content and allowing the visitors to do the rest.

Google was be-fooled by keyword rich articles!

Google had a weakness for keyword rich articles which were devoid of good quality. This was later fixed and Google had no other choice but to let the total number of links pointing to an article decide the quality of that article. The better an article would be, the more would be the demand for it, and more would be the number of people sharing its URL all around the web. But things definitely were not so simple. Webmasters hunted the whole Internet to search for sites which can give links to their articles or sites. And believe it or not but the trick is equally effective even today. More the number of links pointing to your article the higher your article appears in Google search results. Of course, Google has filtered out a few link giving sites which are too easy to exploit its results. As long as it is an algorithm people will know how to use the mathematics for their own advantage.

Are you writing high quality original content for Google or for your visitors?

Are you writing high quality original content for Google or for your visitors? Google can understand the uniqueness of your articles after comparing it with other articles which belong to the same niche. The more different your topic is the greater is your chance to stand first in the search results. High quality content is for your visitors. The happier your visitors are with your article, the greater will be the chances of your article going viral on the Internet. To conclude I would say original content makes Google happy and high quality content makes both your visitors and Google happy.

Ten things you should keep in mind while writing high quality original content:

  1. Never rewrite what others have already written.

  7. Do not insert the keyword everywhere you possibly can. This will distract the reader.
  8. Do not worry about the length of your article. Just make sure that you cover the content completely in full details.
  9. Take your own time to write a meaningful useful article.
  10. More need not necessarily be better. Even if you write one single important article with great details it will be well appreciated by visitors from all over the world.
