Why Are Incense Sticks Used For Meditation?

A monk sits silently in the middle of a room. His eyes are closed. He is lost in a state of bliss which cannot be described in words. In front of him are placed several fragrant incense sticks. The incense sticks burn and emit fragrant fumes which fill the whole room with a heavenly fragrance of several flowers. It is not  uncommon to see incense sticks used in Pujas done by the Hindus.

There is a reason why these incense sticks are used while meditating. Flowers also have an important role to play in the worship done in so many religions. The incense sticks are not merely a means of spreading fragrance but is a means of pleasing God by offering him pleasant fragrances.

There is also one more reason why incense sticks are used during meditation. The fragrance of the incense sticks soothes two very important Chakras in our body: the Heart Chakra and the Mooladhara Chakra. The fragrance of the incense sticks also enlightens the air element around us and charges it with good vibrations.

The incense stick also acts like a room re-freshener. With so many reason for buying incense sticks why should anyone stop himself from buying one. Just light the incense sticks and go into a very deep meditation.
