An AMD processor uses a latest computing technology called as 3DNow! instruction set. 3DNow! defines a set of SIMD (single instruction multiple data) instructions that can perform multiple floating-point operations per clock cycle. In addition to the 3DNow! technology it also supports SSE computing technology that is used by Intel in order to deal with compatibility issues. With 3DNow! AMD processor can process and handle multiple processes within a single clock cycle. Intel does not use 3DNow! technology and this has something very much to do with  the overheating issues that comes up with the HP laptops all the time.

It is the processor which gets overheated because it has to do a lot of work in a single clock cycle as compared to Intel processors.
